Biography

Andreas Angleitner is a self-taught Austrian-based artist from Linz and started his career in 2019.
His main goal is the creation of multi-layered artworks by mixing harmonic looking combinations of colors on two different groundings - canvas and limestone.

His used materials allow him to become more risky and open- minded.
Crossing borders of colors and developing fusions of color fields help him to break down mental barriers and doubts.
It is a sort of facing the unknown and coping with troubles.

Past exhibitions led him - amongst others - to Milano, Madrid, Berlin, Paris and Tokyo.

Favorite materials: Pigments, Limestone, Pastels and Acrylics.

What’s your background?

I am 34 years old and started my artistic career in 2019. I attended a painting location based on Arno Stern’s philosophy and had troubles with a few children who spoke very loud during each meetings. I could not concentrate on my paintings so I quit and created my own studio in my father’s company building.

From that time on my artistic seed unfolded permanently and led me to my current blossoms.
I do feel like a tree which has gained enough space to breathe and grow now.

What does it mean to you to win the Collectors Art Prize?

As this prize is my very first one I do feel happy and excited. Furthermore it shows that my style of art is attractive and worth to recognize.
The prize is a larger mosaic piece on my artistic path to hopefully a wonderful avenue.

What do you think is the role of art in the world today?

In my opinion art has always a connection to creativity. It is sad that many school systems oppress the unfolding of creativity of young people as being creative is absolutely important for human mankind.
In many situations it is key to find solutions or get out of dangerous moments.

Furthermore good art has its power to make people think about their own behavior and may touch their inner core of creativity.

What would it be if you could change one thing about the art world?

Probably I would create colors with marvellous smell - like raspberry, strawberry and so on - as I have never experienced any with a good one.

What are your most significant professional achievements?

Most I am proud of my artwork called „Thanks a lot, Mr. Tchaikovski!“ due to its dimensions.
It has a total length of almost ten meters and causes monumental impressions to me - due to the combination of blue and orange hues too.

What do you wish to tell viewers about your work that might not come out explicitly? What do you hope to inspire with your artwork?

As I am an introvert and having troubles to speak about my personal thoughts I do feel comfortable when there are secrets left in my artworks.
According inspiration I do not pursue any goals consciously. The most important goal is that a viewer enjoys the artwork in its expression and color beauty.

I do love to play (board)games.
As there can be discovered uncountable figures and interpretations in my art it will probably serve as a sort of search game for a lot of viewers.

What advice would you give to the upcoming generation of artists?

Go to museums, read art books and stay or become watchful!

In what direction would you like to see your career go in the next five years?

I would like to come much closer to the avenue by becoming better known in my home country Austria.
Another goal is the presence of my footprints in North America.
