José Ángel Palao

José Ángel Palao

Biography

Born in Yecla (Murcia), Spain, José Ángel Palao studied dramatic art at the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático in Murcia and the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático y Danza in Madrid. He was a theater actor in his professional beginnings.
As a child, Palao lived in the countryside, where his principal natural activities were painting, writing, counting the petals of daisies, chasing real or imaginary fireflies in the moonlight, and, of course, lying on the grass while watching the clouds parade through the sky. Hence, the peculiar case of this internationally recognized artist is that he has always led a life dedicated to the art world in one way or another. Thus, by developing his imagination from a very young age, Palao is a prolific, eclectic, and multitalented artist with a permanent desire to reinvent himself in art. Mother Earth's reverential love awakened in him from childhood, so one line of his work studies nature in his awarded facet as an artivist committed to defending and conserving the environment through art.
What has marked Palao's trajectory and behavior in the complex world of art? It is, undoubtedly, his autodidactism. In a few words, his artistic evolution is of character and self-taught. This educational aspect has led him to be an artist unclassifiable and unpredictable, given his perspective and creative consciousness regarding his peculiar way of understanding digital photography as "an idea in constantly innovative progress."
"What is your artistic goal?" someone asked the multi-award-winning artist Palao. He responded, "My goal in art is to be true to myself and follow my soul's call." He continued by saying, "Therefore, my work aspires to nourish the soul, not the human ego." So, it is understood that creatively speaking, from this fine art photographer and seeker of the self-awareness of aesthetic plenitude, one can expect anything unexpected. This profound concept contains in itself a whole attitude toward life.
In summary, his primary creative activity and personal growth are found in the merging of artistic photography with digital art. Palao said, "Yes, my way currently is artistic photography fused with digital art. There is always a lot to polish and consider before showing a work out into the world on this arduous art of photography path as I live and experience it; therefore, the challenges are constant on the path of the endless upward spiral of creation. As I like to learn something new every day, driven by my spirit of scientific research—and thanks to expanding my self-awareness of artistic perception—this forces me to refine and perfect my works of art in the postprocessing constantly. So, it is understood that learning has no end since now I know more than yesterday, but tomorrow I will know more than today."
He has shown his artworks in numerous exhibitions. With The Art of Photography, he has made over ninety about it—some of them virtual—individually or collectively. Palao has shown his work in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Asia, in countries that include the United States of America, China, Spain, Turkey, Austria, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, Hungary, France, and Italy. His work has been exhibited in New York City, Vienna, Florence, Los Angeles, Paris, Ankara, Madrid, Dallas, Rome, Houston, Milan, Dubai, Barcelona, Miami, Shanghai, Genoa, Istanbul, and Strasbourg, among many other cities.
