Kazuhiro Kita
Biography
I was born in 1981 in Ishikawa, Japan. From the age of six I lived in Kobe, Japan. Between 2001 and 2005 I studied at the Kyoto Institute of Technology, Kyoto. After school I lived and worked as a graphic designer in Tokyo until 2012, when I moved to Kagoshima, Japan. Since 2012, I have been teaching graphic design as an associate professor at Kagoshima Prefectural College.
As an artist, I started working on my own in 2010.
I currently live and work in Kagoshima.
I create my works based on my philosophy of “Surrender to Nature”.
Human beings are tiny in comparison to Nature. We humans are just a little part of magnificent nature. Therefore, I try to surrender my works to nature as much as possible. In a way, my works may be created by nature, not by me.

What does it mean to you to win the Collectors Art Prize?
For me, this prize is like a reward for continuing to produce my work.
What do you think is the role of art in the world today?
Basically, I believe that art has never had and will never have any role. However, it is certain that when a particular work of art is associated with a particular viewer, it will have some action. I believe that art itself has no particular role, but the existence of the viewer gives art some kind of role.
What would it be if you could change one thing about the art world?
Art and Money. I want to correct the excessive worship of money in some parts of the art industry.
What are your most significant professional achievements?
I haven't accomplished anything yet, and I may have accomplished everything. They depends upon the quality of my thoughts.
What do you wish to tell viewers about your work that might not come out explicitly? What do you hope to inspire with your artwork?
I want to make people feel the presence of nature. And I want to tell people that we, human beings, are only a part of nature.
What advice would you give to the upcoming generation of artists?
I am not in a position to give any advice, but one thing I can say is "Love the work you create, Create the work you love.".
In what direction would you like to see your career go in the next five years?
I would like to continue to create my works without haste, but without rest. And I would be happy if as many people as possible could appreciate my works.
