Christine El Ojeil

Biography

At a very young age, Christine was fascinated by the art of painting. As a child and teenager, she used to draw and paint on pieces of wood that her father brought back from his carpentry shop. As an adult, and after taking a break from art, she reconnected with her passion at an Art Academy in Beirut, Lebanon. There, she learned drawing basics, and fully immersed herself in the art of color and composition. She continues to perfect her art by widening her knowledge through different art and painting workshops and techniques. Her artwork is a reflection of her thoughts and feelings. She get inspired from life circumstances and express herself through colors and shapes or subjects that she would love to share with others. Most of her work is oil on canvas, she is more confident with oil painting because it’s richly pigmented and has a smooth texture once blended, which is more satisfying to the eye.
The generating force behind her work is undoubtedly the love and the encouragement of her family. And knowing that there are still people in the world who truly admire Art!

“Every time I use my brushes, a new story is told, translating my feelings, my emotions, and my thoughts..
With every new painting rises a new challenge: my own story to tell.
Every painting is a reflection of my deepest emotions, it carries with it a piece of me.”

What’s your background?

I am a Lebanese artist who started her professional journey at an Art Academy in Beirut, Lebanon. I had been passionate about art since my younger days as a child. Growing up in challenging times during the Lebanese war, I would draw and paint on pieces of wood or anything that my parents could provide me.

Two decades later, I reconnected with my art passion by enrolling to study the art of drawing and painting. Since then, I have attended different workshops whether in Beirut or in Dubai to learn different techniques and choose the ones that appeal the most to me.

What does it mean to you to win the Collectors Art Prize?

It's a great honor for me to be receiving the Collectors Art Prize. Winning this award encourages me to keep investing in my art, broaden my horizons and reach as many viewers as possible.

What do you think is the role of art in the world today?

I believe that art brings people together, whether it is through exhibitions, galleries, museums, or performance spaces. Art bridges the differences between cultures and gives people from different backgrounds, histories, and environments a unified way to communicate. It's a universal language that lets us share our thoughts, emotions, and dreams. I think that has been and will continue to be a primary role for art in our world.

What would it be if you could change one thing about the art world?

One thing I would like to see changed is making art more accessible to everyone. Art shouldn't be just an avenue for the well off.

It would be nice to see art included in education at all levels, everywhere in the world, and college art education made more affordable so we can have diverse talent and ideas shaking up the art world.

What are your most significant professional achievements?

I think the main professional achievement is having many of my paintings be exhibited worldwide. Whether in Italy, Japan, or UAE, seeing my name listed with other renowned artists is very rewarding.

What do you wish to tell viewers about your work that might not come out explicitly? What do you hope to inspire with your artwork?

I would like for my art to evoke positivity and hope. I think that we choose how we want to perceive a piece of art, just like many things in life. When looking at my art, I would like for the viewer to pause, connect with their soul, and find happiness, hope and peace.

What advice would you give to the upcoming generation of artists?

The most important piece of advice that I would like to give to upcoming artists is to be authentic, open to criticism and never give up! They might have a difficult path, but with resolution and an open mind, things can get easier.

In what direction would you like to see your career go in the next five years?

I would like to grow as an artist by exploring different techniques, learning and investing more in my personal growth, all while continuing to exhibit my art in different countries, and reaching new continents!
