ARTIST STATEMENT
“ Fascinate by life complexity, curiosity continuously in alert, I developed a large and multidisciplinary repertoire depicting my contemporary vision of technological, environmental and sociological phenomena responsible for the human’s pressure.
I create links by energetic movements, lines or colors for a better understanding of the actual emergency for survival adaptation.”
BIO
Passionate about the creative process, France Malo was revealed to the international public at the age of fourteen by Radio-Canada Television when she participated in four Broadcast Art Camps in Europe from 1974 to 1978. Since this formative experience she began to teach drawing, painting and sculpture.
MALO studied arts, literacy and communication in different universities: Beaux-Arts de Genève, UCLA in California and Université du Québec à Montréal…
She is now recognized as a Grand Master in Fine Arts GMBA by the Academie Internationale des Beaux-arts du Quebec AIBAQ (2019) and Artiste Officielle de la Federation Quebecoise des Sports Cyclistes FQSC (2016).
Her artistic researches in international contexts led her to receive multiple Honors and Prizes in Canada, USA, Europe.
What is your background?French Canadian native from Quebec Province, my youthness was shared between Montreal suburb and a family « Sugar Shack »located in a large maple forest. From nature observations, I developed all my senses and interests for natural phenomenas, colors, structures, textures, shapes,… I studied Arts and french literature in National and International Institutions included Université de Montreal and Université du Québec Montréal Canada, Université de Genève Switzerland, Pennsylvania Art Academia of the Fine ARTS, Santa-Monica College and UCLA Los-Angeles USA USA. Earlier, from 1974 and 1978, as a young artist selected by French televisions Corporation, I had participated in four Broadcasted Arts Camps in Europe and It is where my multidisciplinary career in arts has taken off.
What does it mean to you to win the Collectors Art Prize?
This Collectors Art Prize encourages my long, passionate and dedicated life in Arts. In this active period in career, this Prize also gives me a stronger voice to continue my artistic research.
What do you think is the role of Art?
Art should promotes creative ideas to stimulate peaceful dialogs with society actors and leaders, especially in this fast and evolutionary period where planet’s harmony is in eruption.
What would it be if you could change one think about the Art world?
Artists would invest themselves and a part of their creativity in social missions…with retribution as any workers.
What are your most significant professional achievement?
More than a professional reputation both nationally and internationally with an signifiant number of realizations and to be precise in the last past decade, my artistic research about human body in action helped me to accomplish an important social mission: introducing Arts in Sports and Sports in Arts.
What do you wish to tell viewers about your work that might not com explicitly?
My recent series come from a long and evolutive process where art, in a symbiotic way, guided all my life experience. Colors in ART SPORT serie express identity and lines are links in CLIMATIC ARCHITECTURES. Movement relates to action and is my also artist’s signature.
What advice would you give to the upcoming generation of artist?
Develop curiosity and sensibility in all aspects of life and experiment as much as possible, physically, emotionally and intellectually to find your unique artistic’s signature. Don’t neglect your intuition as it could gives ideas to survive in this particularly breathtaking adventure!
In what direction would you like to see your career go in the next five years?
I would like to realize an essay based on different art subjects followed by an illustrated biographic art book. Meanwhile, along my actual series, I would continue to develop artworks and texts upon ‘climatic adaptation for survival’ to present in national and international exhibitions.
