Artist Statement

I am a digital artist. My main focus is photography with extreme digital editing processing. This means that I am creating pictures and graphics from architectural, natural and abstract subjects with often surreal components. My favourite themes are front facades of modern buildings or parts of them, which I'm digitally editing and finally changing it into an futuristic digital creation.
Above all, I would like to show how the simple, often depressing architecture on photos can be changed imaginatively and excitingly with extreme image processing. In this way you can go from the functional to the purely imaginative motif, which you can be inspired by in a variety of ways.”

What’s your background?

I was born and grew up in Lower Bavaria. after my vocational diploma I moved to Upper Bavaria, near Munich. I live here for 35 years and work as a nurse in psychosomatics. photography has been my passion for about 20 years. the subsequent image editing was added about 15 years ago and this combination became my true passion. Because I love Cubism, Architecture and Surrealism. In my artworks I try to bring them together. this kind of art is one of my main points and my best compensation, especially to my job, in my life.

What does it mean to you to win the Collectors Art Prize?

it means a lot to me as I consider the portals "contemporary art curator" and "contemporary art collector" to be of very high quality. And so, in my opinion, this award also represents a high level of qualification.

What do you think is the role of art in the world today?

I think art acts as a kind of positive connector in the world. for example as a connection between reality and fantasy, between emotionality and objectivity, between young and old, between different nationalities, and much more.

What would it be if you could change one thing about the art world?

I want the art world to be accessible to everyone around the world. Because everyone has a right to personal development and access to exhibitions, as well as cultural assets. I also wish that good unknown artists would be given the same appreciation and recognation as already famous artists.

What are your most significant professional achievements?

When I succeed in creating a work of art in such a way that I am completely satisfied. My personal greatest successes are a high interest of the people who marvel at my works of art with joy. It's people's enjoyment of art makes me happy and not my success in exhibitions or sales. Of course, the pinnacle of any artist is finding an appreciative collector. Luckily, I've had this experience.

What do you wish to tell viewers about your work that might not come out explicitly? What do you hope to inspire with your artwork?

At first I was fascinated by the images with the motives of the skylines in the metropolises of the world.

Since there was no possibility of such photos in my area, I wanted to try, to create something similar architecturally spectacular pictures myself. then the thought occurred to me:

I want to show simple, often colorless, sometimes even depressing buildings from a different, more exciting and positive side. I want to show what imaginative creations can emerge from often purely functional, gray and sober facades. I just want to show that in the imagination any building can become fantastic and interesting, like all the elements in this world.

What advice would you give to the upcoming generation of artists?

I advise you to be an artist for art's sake. That they are satisfied with their work simply because they enjoy it and not because of the commerce.

In what direction would you like to see your career go in the next five years?

I would like in the „Artfacts“ ranking at least to be below the 100.000 best artists in the world. And an entry in Wikipedia would be very nice.
