About Janusz Tworek „JANUS” :
Janusz Tworek „Janus”, lives in Krakow, Poland and Tenerife. Janusz Tworek has been an architect for almost 45 years. Like everyone who works in this profession, Janusz Tworek is suspended between artistic sensitivity and engineering precision of thinking. In addition to drawing and painting, Janusz Tworek made attempts in the field of ceramics and stained glass. He is also involved in photography for most of his life. The unique atmosphere of Tenerife, the openness of the local population promotes self-development and work on oneself. Janusz Tworek is a self-taught painter. The awareness that one of the most outstanding contemporary painters, Francis Bacon, was also a self-taught artist, gives Janusz Tworek the strength to work and artistic development. Janusz Tworek constantly observes reality, which is why he tries his hand at realistic and abstract painting. Apart from painting, Janusz Tworek still draws with pencils, charcoal and pastels. Sometimes he uses other techniques as well. All this means that Janusz Tworek does very diverse things, both in terms of mood and expression. Much depends on the atmosphere of the moment in which Janusz Tworek is. In Poland, Janusz Tworek collaborates with several art galleries: Pikoteka, Ether, Kontroversjska, Avantgarden, ArtBay, Frearte Gallery, NFT Deep Space. What is your background?
I come from Poland and I live there too. I have been an architect for 45 years. I've been painting since for 8 years and I'm self-taught. I live in the most beautiful Polish city, Krakow.
What does winning the Collectors Art Prize mean to you?
Above all, satisfaction.
What do you think is the role of art in the modern world?
Unfortunately, less than in the twentieth century, which was one of the most creatively prolific periods in all of modern history. The current world is dominated by gadget-oriented consumption. There is less and less space for art.
What would it be like if you could change one thing in the art world?
The emergence of the idea unifying the development of art with the development of civilization. In the twentieth century there were trends in art that influenced the direction of development of the whole culture. Surrealism, Cubism, Pop-art and a few more. It is currently empty
What are your most important professional achievements?
Participation in the exhibition in the historic Villa am Kaiserveg in Austria. My works have been exhibited in the company of such great artists as Claude Monet, David Hockney, Andy Warhol, Auguste Rodin, Salvador Dali, Gustav Klimt, Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso
What do you want to tell viewers about your work that may not come to light? What do you hope to inspire with your work?
I am self-taught. I am driven by emotions and imagination. Despite his 66 years, he works and experiments a lot. The most important thing in my opinion is to learn something all the time and to demand as much from myself as possible.
What advice would you give to the next generation of artists?
Work and sensitivity to emotions stimulated by what surrounds us. At the same time, constantly demanding more and more from yourself
What direction would you like your career to take in the next five years?
I wish I had the strength to keep working. Let my intuition and imagination not fail me. And that would help me paint better and better.
