Kari von Seck
Biography
The German-Norwegian artist Kari Hansen von Seck was born in 1961 in Bitburg (near Pruem), Germany. She lives and works in Wiesbaden.
Her aunt, the famous Norwegian painter and sculptor Nelly Hansen, inspired her in her youth. Painting quickly became her passion.
Her works are far more than images of different people or landscapes. Hansen von Seck creates stories in faces and moments by starting with a photograph. In this way she manages to capture the character of a person, the magic and emotions of a moment. She plays with our perception in her works. Drawing meets graphic pattern, expressionistic colour plays meet materials such as fabric or paper. Her paintings convince with hard contours, intense colours, depth and an extremely perfect execution.
Hansen von Seck shows more than people or a scene: she captures the soul of the moment with her nuanced play.
She exhibits her works in numerous cities in a wide range of countries.
