Biography

I am a Hungarian artist with the artist name of Mano. I’ve been painting with oil on canvas for more than three decades, inspired first by the beautiful Hungarian landscapes and of other countries where I have been living with my family (Sweden, Israel, Belgium). I love to paint interesting people, admire and care of wonderful nature, try to capture the best moments and show them on my paintings. My works were invited to different art exhibitions - solo and in group - organized in Hungary, Sweden, Austria, Israel, Belgium, the USA and Italy. I got several prestigious international art awards, e.g.: Leonardo da Vinci International Art Prize (2x), Caravaggio Art Prize- the Great Master, Palma d’Oro International Art Prize,TOP 60 Masters,  etc.

What’s your background?

My profession is actually journalism, but I always loved drawing and especially painting. I began to paint in oil on canvas more than 37 years ago.

What does it mean to you to win the Collectors Art Prize?

The prestigious Collectors Art Prize means a lot to me!  The recipient of this award is chosen by art experts, whose decision is completely professional, based on the evaluation of the artwork. I’m very proud for having been awarded with this great prize, and selected as an artist „whose practices are among the most innovative and influential of our time”. It’s indeed a fantastic feeling!

What do you think is the role of art in the world today?

Artists have always played a serious role in the society they were living in and their art had always made an impact for the future, as well. The artworks can show the every days of people, moments of their history, presented a mirror of their environment, etc. Nowadays – when we could witness global epidemic and a war around us - we can fight with our artworks for peace, for human beings, for protection of our environment. We can convey important ideas to each other and draw attention for the most important things like the protection of our nature. We can have influence on our surrounding, our life and the future of the next generations.

What would it be if you could change one thing about the art world?

Maybe it would be fine to give more space to artists and show their art not only in galleries and museums, but also on big screens in parks for all people who have no time or any other possibility to meet these artworks.

What are your most significant professional achievements?

They are the foreign art awards that I have received in the recent years: Collectors Art Prize, Leonardo da Vinci International Art Prize (2 times), Caravaggio International Art Prize (2 times), Palma d’ Oro International Art Prize, Top 60 Masters of Contemporary Artists, Artist of the Future, Art of Creativity International Art Prize, Winner of the Voices of Tomorrow Art Award, The Best International and Contemporary Artist London Prize, Collector’s Vision International Art Award, etc. And lastly, a very important: The high professional level recognition by the Curator of the Hungarian National Gallery…

What do you wish to tell viewers about your work that might not come out explicitly? What do you hope to inspire with your artwork?

I try to show the beauty of our nature, the importance of human feelings and unique moments of our lives. We have to protect our environment and have to preserve it for the next generation, as it is now.

What advice would you give to the upcoming generation of artists?

I suggest to the upcoming generation of artists to create as much as possible at a high level, so that as many people as possible can admire the beauty that affects the soul and affects our everyday life.

In what direction would you like to see your career go in the next five years?

My dreams are to be invited and show my artworks in the Tate Modern London Museum and the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
