Torhild Frøydis Eid
Biography
Torhild Frøydis Eid is born i 1961 in Kristiansand, currently living in Son in the south-eastern part of Norway.She used to work as a navy officer, yet the service was getting increasingly demanding, she chose to leave. Her inner voice urged her to explore and process things. As a result, she turned to beloved painting, but also to interior design and gardening, which are of great interests and good sources of inspiration.
Artist Statement
She is a very passionate painter, and she loves to experiment with colours, textures and techniques. She always aim at creating high-quality artworks and improving her skills, in acrylic painting and in mixed media techniques.
She finds inspiration in her daily life and in her dreams. She focus on the positive, and all the beauty in life. The animals, the sea, the sky, the mountains and the light are her main sources of inspiration.
Music and lyrics give extra spices to the creative process.In her paintings she seeks to transfer her inner sensations and what she sees for "her inner eye" to the canvas. Often it turns out in an unpredictable form. Introspection is also important, as a mean of revealing and restoring painful memories. As well as focusing on healing, seeking peace and harmony in her life.
In a World in chaos and with great challenges, she hopes the Power of Art can affect people positively, and make the World a more peaceful place.
Creating her own unique artworks, is her way of contributing. Her intention and strong desire is to remind the observer of all the beauty in life. To appreciates what life has to offer, even in small everyday things. She wants her artworks to give the observer moments with good vibrations.
To breathe and to calm down. To seek light, silence and peace.
CV. She attended her first acrylic painting course in the winter of 2017/2018. She continuously seeks inspiration, knowledge, and to improve her skills especially in mixed media techniques. She has during the last couple of years attended several online painting courses in various techniques for inspiration.She has now developed her very special and unique artistic expression. The viewer may recognize various exciting tecniques put together in the same work of art. During a short 2 year period, her artworks have achieved a surprising amount of international attention.
She has just signed her second" 1 Year contract of gallery representation" with the distinguished and elegant museum-forum gallery, AMSTERDAM WHITNEY International Fine Art Gallery in Chelsea, New York City.
She has attended 14 international art exhibitions in 8 countries, both in Europe and USA. In Norway, 13 group exhibitions.This last gallery exhibitions were at AMSTERDAM WHITNEY Gallery in New York ," CHELSEA BIENALE 2022", and with PAKS Gallery at "PARIS ART FAIR 2022" , in the famouse "Le Carousel du Louvre".
She has received 12 international art awards and prizes. The last " THE FACES OF PEACE ART PRIZE", Sept 2022 ("Contemporary Art Curator Magazine") and the prestigious " ART TOUR INTERNATIONAL MAGAZINE - TOP 60 MASTERS 2022(June 2022), nicknamed " The Oscars of visual Art". Several of her artworks have obtained recognition and finalist certificates in international art contests.
Her artworks have been published in 25 international art book/-catalogue's/-magazines, and additionaly several online coverage. The well- reputed publishing house " World Wide Art Books" (USA) has promoted her artworks widely, in " Current Masters 5" (2020), in "International Contemporary Masters 14" (2021), and in "Important World Artists 5" (2022). "Circle Foundation of Arts" (France) has also given her column space in " Spotlight Magazine", in four issues, and also" Front Cover Page Presentation" (2021). What’s your background?
I have a lifelong career in the Armed Forces, Medical Staff Officer and I am a war veteran.
When it comes to painting, which I turned to in 2018, I have attended different online Acrylic and Mixed media painting courses, in order to build up my unique artistic expression.
I am countinously trying to improve my skills and create high quality artworks
What does it mean to you to win the Collectors Art Prize?
First and foremost , I feel very honored and happy winning the great prize.
I really feel it is a sign of recognition , and it really motiveres me in my creative work. Thank you so much!
What do you think is the role of art in the world today?
Art has a sentral role in day’s society. Art gives us a divercity of experiences, partly it gives an aestetic experience, it contributes to reflection, and finally to set the agenda.
What would it be if you could change one thing about the art world?
That unscrupulous players that take advantage of emerging artists, with little knowlege and experience, are to be removed.
What are your most significant professional achievements?
I have achieved more than I could have dreamed of only in a few years. (2020-2023). It is difficult to rank , but I would like to highlight:

What do you wish to tell viewers about your work that might not come out explicitly? What do you hope to inspire with your artwork?
I believe in th « Power of Art can make the World a more peaceful place» ».
I hope that my art can influence people. My artworks are inspired by the God’s Creation, and all the Beauty that surrounds us.
Unfortunately we are living in a World of chaos and big challenges. War, pollution and degradation of Mother Earth.
We really need to calm the moods, and really see what we are doing! The time is overdue!
I hope to awaken, and to calm people .
So this is my way of contributing!
What advice would you give to the upcoming generation of artists?
Believe in yourself, and do not compare yourself, or your art with others! Find your own artistic experession, and follow your gut feeling- reaching your hairy goals!
In what direction would you like to see your career go in the next five years?
I would very much like to come in position to showcase my artworks in areas that have high, and good values.
